BLUEYE SUNGLASSES – the ultimate in performance, comfort and style

Blueye Sunglasses are much more than a style statement. Though we're sure you'll appreciate their great looks, the shatterproof polycarbonate lenses are so strong that we tested them with a 12 gauge shot gun! They pass the European Standard EN166:1996 for high speed particles and robustness. This stringent set of tests for safety eyewear for industrial use is a far higher standard than the basic sunglasses test.

Wrap-around lenses offer excellent peripheral vision and are decentred to ensure distortion free vision irrespective of the line of sight. The ultra-tough frames and arms are designed to ensure maximum comfort and a secure fit, with some styles featuring soft arm tips and anti-slip inserts.

Blueye offer a wide range of styles, some developed with specific sports in mind. 'No Standing' and 'Clearway' feature interchangeable and replaceable lenses, and a foam lining around the eye piece to prevent wind and dust, and are very popular with motorcyclists and cyclists. Water sport glasses with polycarbonate polarized smoke or bronze lenses, treated with hydrophobic Watershield Coating.

Eel is available in two frame colours and two lens colour options: choose from Crystal Grey Gloss (pictured right) or Gloss Black finishes for the TR90 Grilamide Frame, which features a temple adjustable head strap with floating chip to ensure you can recover your eyewear if dropped in the water.

Impact Tested and

Proven Shatterproof

Blueye goggles have been impact tested by the University of New South Wales in Australia and meet the requirements of AS 1337 -1992 "Eye protectors for industrial applications".

Blueye also did in house testing on the goggles using a 12 gauge shotgun. Premium factory loaded Winchester super ranger cartridges containing 4 shot were fired at the goggles from varying distances through a fully choked barrel. Results were as follows;

1. Fired at from 40 metres:

Slight indentation of the lens. Frame unmarked.

2. Fired at from 25 metres: Visible indentation of the lens. Slight marking of the frame.

3. Fired at from 15 metres:

Lens cracked on impact in the centre only. Frame remained almost unmarked.

Even at 15 metres the lens did not shatter and only cracked down the centre.

European Standard EN166:1996

Blueye sunglasses have also been tested to exacting European standards which test for lens fracture, lens deformation, lens housing or frame failure and lateral protection failure. Blueye passed both the High Speed Particle Test and the Increased Robustness Test which apply to industial eye protection - a far higher standard than the usual EN1836:1996 standard for personal eye protection sunglassses.
